Honda is making a comeback to British GT in 2025 with the NSX GT3, marking the brand’s first appearance in the series in 18 years. The last time Honda-powered cars were on the grid was in 2007, when the Lotus Exige GT3s of Mackintosh Motorsport and Cadena Motorsport ran Honda engines. Before that, you’d have to go back to the ‘90s to find a Honda entry in British GT.
This time, the NSX GT3 will be fielded by Bridger Motorsport, a team making its British GT debut. Since its launch in 2015, Bridger has competed in UK single-seater championships, but stepping into GT3 racing is a whole new challenge. The team will have backing from Honda’s development partner, JAS Motorsport.
A Big Leap for Bridger Motorsport
Team boss Jay Bridger is well aware of the challenge ahead but is optimistic about what’s to come.
“We’re really excited to be joining British GT with Honda this year,” Bridger said. “It’s a massive step up for us as a team. We’ve only got experience at the GT4 level, so GT3 is a whole new ballgame. Working with JAS Motorsport has been invaluable, and we’re learning fast.”
As the only Honda on the grid, the team knows they have a steep learning curve. But early testing has gone better than expected, and Bridger believes they have a solid setup heading into the season.
Meet the Drivers: Luke Garlick & Johnny Ip
Bridger Motorsport’s NSX GT3 will be piloted by two British GT newcomers: Luke Garlick and Johnny Ip. Both drivers raced for Bridger last season in the British Endurance Championship and Monoposto Championship.
For Ip, who hails from Hong Kong, this is a dream come true.
“Competing in British GT is something I’ve always wanted,” he said. “It’s one of the biggest GT racing stages, and I’m excited to push myself, represent my roots, and take on this challenge.”
Garlick, meanwhile, has spent the last few years racing in Ginettas. He won the GT5 Challenge Pro title in 2023 and finished third in the 2024 GT Championship standings.
“I can’t wait to start my GT3 journey with Bridger Motorsport and Honda,” said the 18-year-old. “Coming from Ginettas, this is a big jump, but I know we’ll make an impact on the British GT grid. I’ve tested the car, and I’m looking forward to the season opener at Donington Park.”
What’s Next?
The 2025 British GT season kicks off at Donington Park on April 5-6 and wraps up at the same venue on October 4-5. Bridger Motorsport is the sixth confirmed team for the season, joining an exciting grid that includes Ferrari’s much-anticipated return to the championship.
It’s shaping up to be a thrilling season, and all eyes will be on Honda’s NSX GT3 as it takes on the competition.
